YG777 Dice Games: Craps, Sic Bo and Four More Compared
Casinos deal six main dice games: craps, Sic Bo, chuck-a-luck, under and over seven, hazard and the live Lightning Dice.
Key facts and contents
- Craps
- Two dice, a come-out roll and a point; the pass line carries a 7 in 495 edge, about 1.41%.
- Sic Bo
- Three dice and a board of bets; big and small carry 2.78%, a single number 7.87%.
- Chuck-a-luck
- Three dice and a pick of one number; the same arithmetic as a Sic Bo single number.
- Under and Over Seven
- Two dice and a call on the total; 7 loses both sides, so the edge is 16.67% at even money.
- Hazard
- The older cousin of craps, with a caller who names a main number before the throw.
- Lightning Dice
- A live game show on three dice where a bet on the total can arrive with a multiplier.
Dice games all run on the same plain fact: each die lands on one of six faces, so every outcome can be counted and every edge worked out by hand. Below are six dice games casinos deal, with the bets that matter and the edge sums shown, so you can check each figure yourself. To find a dice table in the lobby, open Live from the menu and look through the studio tiles, then read the rules in the game’s own window.
The six dice games at a glance
| # | Game | Dice | Outcomes counted | Headline edge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Craps | 2 | 36 per throw | 1.41% pass line |
| 2 | Sic Bo | 3 | 216 per throw | 2.78% big or small |
| 3 | Chuck-a-luck | 3 | 216 per throw | 7.87% single number |
| 4 | Under and Over Seven | 2 | 36 per throw | 16.67% at even money |
| 5 | Hazard | 2 | 36 per throw | varies with the main |

The edge is the share of each stake the table keeps over the long run. For a longer definition, read the house edge meaning behind these figures.
Craps rules and the pass line
Craps rules start with one shooter and two dice. On the come-out roll a total of 7 or 11 wins the pass line, and 2, 3 or 12 loses it. Any other total becomes the point, and the shooter keeps rolling until the point repeats (pass wins) or a 7 arrives first (pass loses).
The pass line edge, step by step, from the 36 ways two dice can land:
- Come-out win: 6 ways to make 7 plus 2 ways to make 11 is 8 in 36.
- Point 4 or 10: 3 ways each; 3 ways to repeat the point against 6 ways to make 7, so it wins 3 in 9, or 1 in 3.
- Point 5 or 9: 4 ways each; it wins 4 in 10, or 2 in 5.
- Point 6 or 8: 5 ways each; it wins 5 in 11.
- Add them: 8/36 + 2 x (3/36 x 1/3 + 4/36 x 2/5 + 5/36 x 5/11) = 244/495, about 49.29%.
- At even money the edge is 1 - 2 x 244/495 = 7/495, about 1.41% of the stake.
The don’t pass bet is the mirror image, except that a come-out 12 is a push. That leaves it winning 0.4793 of the time, losing 0.4929 and pushing 0.0278, so the edge is about 1.40% of every stake that is settled.
An odds bet placed behind a pass line point is paid at the true odds. A point of 4 has 3 ways to win against 6 to lose, so 2 to 1 is exact, and the extra stake carries no edge of its own.
Sic Bo rules and the 216 outcomes
Sic Bo rules use three dice shaken together, and the board lets you bet on single numbers, pairs, totals and the big and small areas. Three dice give 6 x 6 x 6 = 216 outcomes, all equally likely. Big wins on a total of 11 to 17, small on 4 to 10, and any triple loses both, and that rule is where the table’s edge on these bets comes from.
The big bet counted out:
- Totals of 11 to 18 account for 108 of the 216 outcomes, by symmetry with 3 to 10.
- Take away the single outcome that totals 18 (6-6-6): 107 left.
- Take away the other triples inside 11 to 17: 4-4-4 and 5-5-5. That leaves 105 winning outcomes.
- At even money you win 105 times and lose 111 in 216, so the edge is 6/216, about 2.78%.
A single number bet normally pays 1 to 1 for one matching die, 2 to 1 for two and 3 to 1 for three. Counting the 216: exactly one match shows up 75 times, two matches 15 times, three matches once, and no match 125 times. The result is 75 + 30 + 3 = 108 won against 125 lost, so the edge is 17/216, about 7.87%. Those payouts are the usual ones; if the game window states different ones, rerun the same count.
Chuck-a-luck, Under and Over Seven and Hazard
Chuck-a-luck is the three-dice game in its barest form: pick one number from 1 to 6 and be paid by the number of dice that match. It is the Sic Bo single number bet with the same payouts, so the same 17/216 edge applies, about 7.87%.
Under and Over Seven uses two dice. You call under 7, over 7 or exactly 7. Under 7 wins on 15 of 36 totals, over 7 wins on 15, and the 6 ways to make a 7 take both sides. At even money that is 21 losses against 15 wins, so the edge is 6/36, about 16.67%.
It looks gentle and carries the biggest edge on this page.
Hazard is the older game craps grew from. The caller names a main number between 5 and 9, throws, and the result depends on how the throw compares with that main. Its payouts differ from table to table, so this page gives no single edge for it; read the rules the game shows.
Lightning Dice and the live studios
Lightning Dice is a live game-show take on three dice. You bet on the total, and some totals are struck by lightning and arrive with a multiplier on the payout. The multipliers are the studio’s and are set in the game itself, so open the game’s rules window and read the paytable there.
To look for it or any other dice table, open Live and scan the 14 studios the lobby lists on 1 October 2026: Evolution, VIVO Gaming, GClub, PP, AB, SA, SEXY CASINO, Micro Gaming, WM, Ezugi, Pretty Gaming, ViA CASINO, Playtech and MT-live. Which of them runs a dice table is shown in the lane itself.
Dice odds against card odds
Dice odds come as fractions of 36 or 216, and poker odds as fractions of 2,598,960 five-card hands.
| Event | Count | Out of | Odds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two dice total 7 | 6 | 36 | 1 in 6 |
| Two sixes on two dice | 1 | 36 | 1 in 36 |
| Three sixes on three dice | 1 | 216 | 1 in 216 |
| Full house in five cards | 3,744 | 2,598,960 | 1 in 694 |
| Royal flush in five cards | 4 | 2,598,960 | 1 in 649,740 |
A royal flush odds explainer for poker shows how thin that last number gets: 4 hands in 2,598,960, or 1 in 649,740, against 1 in 36 for double sixes on two dice. A full house poker hand sheet puts the mid-ranking hands at 3,744 in 2,598,960.
If you like counting outcomes, the family of games in card games online beyond dice rewards the same habit. Set a loss limit before you sit at any table and keep to it; players must be 21 or over.
FAQ
Which dice game has the lowest house edge?
Of the six here, the craps pass line, at 7 in 495 or about 1.41%. The odds bet behind a pass line point is paid at true odds, so it adds stake without adding edge.
Are the craps rules hard to learn?
The core is two throws of logic: the come-out roll, then the point. Learn the pass line first and ignore the centre-table bets until you want them.
How many dice does Sic Bo use?
Three. That gives 216 equally likely outcomes, and every bet on the board is counted against those 216.
Where do I find dice games in the YG777 lobby?
Open Live from the menu and look through the studio tiles for a dice table, then read the rules in the game's own window before you bet. Paytables differ between studios, so the window is the source.
Do the house-edge figures here match every table?
They match the payouts stated on this page. If a table pays a different amount for a bet, redo the sum with its number; the method is the same.
